conditions.

Preparation to Install
New pool
After commissioning your new pool, fill it up with fresh water and in the case of concrete or tiled pools run it on liquid chlorine for about 6 weeks until the concrete / grout is sufficiently cured. The reason behind this is that during the curing period the pH on the wall of your pool will be very high, which may give rise to algae problems.
Retrofit exisiting pool
If you retrofit a chlorine pool, the chlorine will have evaporated in a couple of days so
you don't need to refill your pool. If retrofitting a saltwater chlorinated pool, there is
no need to change over the water either. Usually there is some level of solids leftover
from the salt chlorination process, but the system is designed to cope with that.
Increase hardness
Add calcium to your pool until the hardness has reached 400 ppm.
The best is to use calcium chloride flakes or pellets. Your local chemical wholesaler
will stock this. The initial dose will be about 25 kg on a 100,000 ltr pool.
Installation
Install control box
The control box should be installed out of direct sunlight and at a distance from the chamber as allowed by the length of the leads provided. The controlbox needs a normal 2-phase powerpoint. Hook up the box in conjunction with your pool-pump in such a way that the control box is operating when the pool pump is on. Start with 4 - 6 hours per day.
Install chamber
Cut a length out of the return pool line (2 inch) same as the length of the
chamber, glue in the ends of the barrel unions and fit the chamber in the line.
Connect the leads with the colourcoded connectors to the control box. If you have
purchased the automated pH control unit (either CO2 or pH-control dripper) connect
these add-ons to the chamber and the control box according to the instructions
provided.
Set up
Set up control box
Press BOOST. This will set the control box to ionising full time
for the first days so that the required copper level can be maintained.

Maintenance and Water Quality Guide
Water Quality Levels & Test Frequency
Always test and correct pH before testing the copper level. A high pH will give an incorrect copper level reading.
pH should be between 6.8-7.2. The desired level after adjustment is 6.8 (not 7.2, which is the upper limit); if slightly lower do not correct it, it will increase over time. To lower the pH add liquid acid at a rate of one litre to 40,000 liters of pool volume, until the pH is 6.8. Dilute acid 10:1 before adding. Always handle acid with caution, add acid to water and be careful not to spill or be down wind when pouring.
Copper level should be between 0.4-0.7 ppm. If below 0.4 adjust the LEVEL (ionisation) up towards 6 or if above 0.7 adjust the LEVEL down towards 0. Adjustments should be made one level at a time, testing every 4 days to determine if further adjustment is required. In the first season check the various levels on a weekly basis. A pattern will emerge based on the time of the year, the pool loading etc. Using this pattern, the levels may need to be checked only every two - three weeks, in subsequent seasons, if there is an automated pH control implemented. Ensure that the copper level is not over 0.7 ppm for extended periods. Over-ionization may cause staining.
Phosphate test monthly - please contact your dealer if phosphate is present.
Backwash the filter monthly or sooner - if the pressure gauge on filter indicates the need. See Backwash instructions.
Calcium test every three months. The level should be set at 400ppm, if it falls below 250ppm it should be adjusted to 400ppm again. Calcium level can be as high as 800ppm, without the need for correction (15kgs of calcium chloride will raise level approximately 200ppm for a 50,000 litre pool).
Clean electrodes every six months. See electrode cleaning procedure.
Maintain standard pool cleaning procedure. Brush your pool every two weeks paying particular attention to steps and corners. If there is no automatic vacuum cleaner make sure that regular manual vacuuming takes place.
Set the filter and Barramundi systems times. They should be run 8 hours per day during summer, 4 hours during winter, 6 hours in the shoulder months.
Check the TA. (total alkalinity) every three months. Keep the level above 40. If necessary add sodium bi-carbonate, not more than 1 KG at a time, every other day until you have an TA of minimum 40 maximum 100. If the pool water is crystal clear but has a lime green colour contact your dealer.
Please contact Free Heat with any questions relating to your Barramundi Freshwater Swimming Pool system. Pool shops supplying non-Barramundi systems do not have the experience to advise you correctly.

Ultrasonic algae control
What are Algae and how can we control them
Algae are a natural component of most aquatic ecosystems and are found in both fresh and marine waters. They range in size from large kelps (metres in length) to those visible only under a microscope. Algae blooms occur when there are high nutrient levels, low flows, low wind and high temperatures.
There is now a new way to control algae
Ultrasonic waves destroy the algae from within. These ultrasounds are inaudible to humans and pose no threat to people, animals or fish. The effectiveness of this technology is amazing and it will destroy nearly all forms of algae, with minimal impact on the aquatic environment.
The product range is optimised depending on size and useage, see the different models available below for ornamental ponds, swimming pools, water storage tanks, lakes, cooling tower, irrigation and wastewater installations.
Choose one of the models below:
